Held on Sunday 11th May 2025 at the Horbury Working Members Club
At our Spring Bids awards ceremony we handed out 29 monetary awards, totalling just under £7,000.
A large thank you goes out to everybody involved with the awards process and I am sure that the monies given will be put to good use by all individuals and groups.
The role of volunteers is crucial – your community owes you all a debt of gratitude. They, like us, would be more restricted in what they can achieve without the help and (financial) support from local organisations.
We particularly welcomed the Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Wakefield Metropolitan District' (Councillor Darren Byford) who also happens to be one of the three Local Councillors for Horbury and South Ossett. Darren and the other 2 Councillors, Gwen Page and Deb Nicholls have been very supportive of us and of the other community and voluntary groups in the area, as have Social Workers from Wakefield Council. The Mayor, kindly agreed to make the presentations for us at our 2025 Spring Bids Award Ceremony.
We have mentioned Wakefield Council but also must mention the Daniel Gaskell Foundation which is a Horbury charity which provides financial support for the education and development of young people from within the boundaries of Horbury.
